Apple may have accidentally revealed another clue about its long-rumored foldable iPhone. Hidden within the fourth developer beta of iOS 27, new Battery Health references point to an iPhone equipped with multiple internal batteries, something no current iPhone model uses.

The discovery has fueled speculation that Apple is preparing its first foldable iPhone, which many reports suggest could launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup later this year.

Developers examining the latest iOS 27 beta found several new Battery Health messages that refer to "batteries" instead of a single battery.

Current iPhones only contain one battery, so all existing Battery Health messages reference a single power source. The new wording stands out because it repeatedly uses plural language when describing battery condition and replacement.

Examples reportedly include messages stating:
