Samsung Reveals New Flex Titanium Display for Galaxy Z Fold 8 With a Smaller Screen Crease


Samsung has officially shared new details about the display technology powering its next generation of foldable smartphones. Ahead of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 launch, the company introduced Flex Titanium, a redesigned display architecture built to improve durability while making the fold crease much less noticeable.

The announcement offers one of the clearest indications yet that Samsung is continuing to refine one of the biggest concerns surrounding foldable phones: the visible crease that forms where the display bends.

What Is Samsung's Flex Titanium Display?

The centerpiece of Samsung's new foldable display is a titanium-alloy support layer positioned beneath the OLED panel.

Unlike traditional plastic support materials, the titanium alloy is both thinner and significantly more rigid. According to Samsung, the material measures less than 30% of the thickness of a human hair while delivering dramatically greater structural strength.

The updated design combines two key components:

  • Titanium-alloy film beneath the OLED display for improved rigidity.

  • Titanium support plate underneath the display assembly to provide greater stability during folding and unfolding.

Together, these layers help distribute pressure more evenly across the display while maintaining the flexibility needed for thousands of folds.

A Smaller Crease Could Improve the Viewing Experience

Samsung says the new architecture is designed to reduce the appearance of the fold crease.

By minimizing air gaps inside the display structure and increasing overall support, the screen remains flatter when fully opened. This not only improves visual consistency but may also create a smoother surface when interacting with the display.

Recent leaked videos of what appears to be the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra seem to support Samsung's claims. The footage shows a foldable display where the center crease is barely noticeable under normal viewing angles, even after repeated folding.
