iPhone 18 Pro and Apple Watch Buyers Will Need Day-One Software Updates


If you're getting a new iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 12, or Apple Watch Ultra 4, don't be surprised if setup immediately asks you to download an update.

iPhone 18 Pro Ships With an Earlier iOS 27 Build

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max ship with versions of iOS 27 carrying build numbers 24A427 and 24A8428.

Apple's launch version of iOS 27 is 24A437, so the difference is relatively small. Still, buyers should expect the update to appear during the initial setup process.
