Pixel 11 Pro Video Boost Bug Is Causing Static Audio


Google has steadily improved smartphone video quality with each Pixel generation, and Video Boost remains one of its most impressive camera tools. However, some Pixel 11 Pro users are now running into an unexpected problem. Videos recorded with Video Boost can contain noticeable bursts of static, turning otherwise good footage into something that may be difficult to use.

Pixel 11 Pro Video Boost has an audio problem

Google introduced Video Boost with the Pixel 8 Pro in 2023. Instead of relying entirely on processing performed on the phone, the feature uploads recorded footage to Google's servers, where additional processing can improve aspects such as detail, color and overall video quality.

The Pixel 11 Pro appears to have developed a problem somewhere in that experience. Users have reported short bursts of static appearing in the audio of videos recorded with Video Boost. In some cases, the interference occurs repeatedly throughout a clip and can sound similar to a Bluetooth connection struggling to stay stable.

The reports are becoming increasingly common, suggesting that this may be a software issue rather than an isolated hardware fault. Several Pixel owners have described experiencing the same behavior, although Google has not publicly confirmed the exact cause.

Is there a temporary fix?

There is no confirmed permanent solution yet, but some users have found that clearing the Google Camera app's cache can help. Disabling Audio Zoom has also been suggested as another possible workaround.

Neither method is guaranteed to solve the problem, so anyone recording something important should test their camera before relying on Video Boost. If the static continues, temporarily turning Video Boost off may be the safer choice when clean audio is more important than enhanced video processing.

Google also appears to be aware of the reports, which raises the possibility that a future Camera app update or Pixel software update could resolve the problem.

Keep important videos and photos backed up

Camera bugs are frustrating enough when they affect one recording. They become a much bigger headache when the footage is important or difficult to recreate. If you're troubleshooting your Pixel 11 Pro, it is worth keeping copies of important videos and photos somewhere safe before experimenting with settings.

Video Boost is still one of the Pixel's more ambitious camera features, but impressive visuals cannot make up for unusable audio. Hopefully, Google can identify the cause and deliver a fix before more Pixel 11 Pro owners discover the problem after recording something they cannot recreate.
