Samsung One UI 9 Update Reaches Galaxy S25 and Z Fold7 Series

Samsung has started expanding its One UI 9 rollout beyond the Galaxy S26 series, bringing the Android 17-based software update to several of its 2025 flagship devices.

The rollout began with the Galaxy S26 series in South Korea on September 16 before reaching users in the United States on September 23. Now, Galaxy S25 owners and users of Samsung's latest foldable flagships are beginning to receive the stable version as well.

The update is arriving in stages, so not every compatible device will receive the notification at exactly the same time. Here's what we know about the One UI 9 rollout so far.

Galaxy S25 Series Gets Stable One UI 9

Samsung Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra users in South Korea have started receiving notifications for the stable One UI 9 update.

The rollout includes users who did not participate in Samsung's beta program, which means the company has moved beyond testing and is now distributing the finished software to regular users.

If Samsung follows the same rollout pattern used for the Galaxy S26 series, users in the United States could begin seeing the update notification around the following week.

As with most major Android updates, availability can vary based on region, carrier, and device configuration. If the update does not appear immediately, that does not necessarily mean there is a problem with the phone.

Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 Also Receive the Update

The One UI 9 rollout is not limited to Samsung's traditional flagship phones.

Owners of the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 who participated in the One UI 9 beta are now seeing the stable release appear on their devices. The availability of the update for Z Flip7 FE users is less clear at this stage.

Samsung is expected to expand the stable release to users who were not enrolled in the beta program as the rollout progresses.

For beta participants, the transition to the stable version can also involve a smaller download because some of the required software components may already be present on the device.

How Large Is the One UI 9 Update?

The size of the download varies depending on the device and the software version currently installed.

For the Galaxy S25 series, the stable update is reportedly associated with build S938NKSUCDZIF and requires approximately 3.9GB of storage for the download.

Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 users moving from the One UI 9 beta are reportedly receiving build F966NKSUCCZIH, with the download measuring around 500MB in one reported case.

That smaller file size should not be taken as the standard size for every user. Someone upgrading directly from One UI 8.5 is expected to receive a considerably larger package because more components need to be installed.

What Should You Do Before Installing One UI 9?

A major software update is usually straightforward, but it is still worth preparing your phone before starting the installation.

Make sure there is enough free storage available, keep the battery charged, and consider backing up important information before beginning the update. Photos, videos, documents, contacts, and other personal files can take up significant space, especially on a phone that has been used for several years.

If you're also preparing to switch to a new Galaxy device, this is a good opportunity to organize your data before moving everything over. Smart Transfer can make that process easier by helping users manage different types of content during a device upgrade.

For example, its clone phone files capability can help when moving important information from one device to another, while photo transfer can be useful when you want to bring your camera library to a new phone without manually selecting individual images. A dedicated transfer tool can also make it easier to move files data when you're dealing with a large amount of content during a phone upgrade.

Keeping your data organized before an operating system update or device switch means fewer surprises later. Once the new software is installed, you can concentrate on exploring the changes instead of searching for files you forgot to move.

One UI 9 Rollout Is Following Samsung's Schedule

The current rollout appears to be broadly consistent with Samsung's previously announced schedule.

Samsung Thailand had indicated that the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy Z7 series would receive One UI 9 on September 28. The current reports of stable updates arriving for these devices line up with that timeline.

Samsung had also previously indicated that the Galaxy S23 FE and other Galaxy S23 models would receive the update "by October." That wording has since been changed to "later this year," suggesting that the exact timing for those devices may take longer than initially expected.

When Will Other Galaxy Phones Get One UI 9?

Samsung typically expands major software releases in stages rather than making them available to every compatible device at once.

That means the Galaxy S25 and Z7 series rollout is only one part of the wider One UI 9 distribution. Other Galaxy models are expected to follow, although the timing can differ depending on the device, market, and carrier.

If your Galaxy phone is eligible but you have not received the notification yet, checking manually can be worthwhile.

Go to:

Settings → Software update → Download and install

If the update is available for your device, you should see the option to begin downloading it.

One UI 9 Brings Android 17 to More Galaxy Flagships

The arrival of stable One UI 9 on the Galaxy S25 series and newer foldables marks another stage in Samsung's Android 17 rollout.

The Galaxy S26 series received the update first, followed by the company's 2025 flagship phones and foldables. With the stable release now reaching regular users rather than only beta participants, Samsung's latest software is beginning to reach a much broader audience.

The rollout will continue throughout the year, and owners of other compatible Galaxy devices will need to wait for Samsung's schedule for their particular model and region.

For now, Galaxy S25, Z Fold7, and Z Flip7 owners can check their software update settings to see whether One UI 9 is ready. If you're planning a device upgrade at the same time, taking a few minutes to organize and transfer your important data can make the transition considerably smoother.
