Samsung Android 17 Update Expands to More Galaxy Phones in the US

Samsung is expanding its Android 17 rollout in the United States, bringing the latest One UI 9 update to more Galaxy devices after a slower-than-expected start.

The rollout initially focused on Samsung's newest Galaxy S26 lineup, but the company is now extending the stable update to several other recent devices. Owners of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy S25 series are among those beginning to see Android 17 arrive on their phones.

As with many major Android updates, availability is not identical across every device. Carrier, model, and region can all affect when the software becomes available.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 Get Android 17

Samsung's latest foldable phones are now joining the Android 17 rollout in the US.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is reportedly receiving the stable One UI 9 update on both T-Mobile and Verizon. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is also seeing the update, with AT&T devices among those receiving it.

Unlocked versions have not necessarily received the update at the same time as carrier models. However, they are expected to follow as Samsung continues expanding availability.

This staggered approach means two people using the same Galaxy model may not see the update simultaneously, even if they are both located in the United States.

Galaxy S25 Series Joins the Rollout

The Android 17 update is also reaching Samsung's Galaxy S25 family.

The standard Galaxy S25 has reportedly started receiving the stable version in the US, although availability appears to be limited to certain carrier-locked models so far.

The rollout is also expanding to the Galaxy S25 FE and Galaxy S25 Edge. Verizon is among the carriers where the update has reportedly appeared.

That gives Samsung a broader group of recent Galaxy phones running the newest version of Android and One UI, although the rollout remains dependent on individual carrier configurations.

Why You May Not See the Update Yet

If you own one of these Galaxy phones but cannot find Android 17, that does not necessarily mean something is wrong with your device.

Samsung commonly distributes major software updates in stages. Carrier approval can also influence when an update becomes available. As a result, an update can appear on one carrier while remaining unavailable on another.

Unlocked phones can follow a different rollout schedule as well.

Rather than repeatedly checking throughout the day, it is worth giving Samsung's servers and your carrier some time to complete the rollout for your particular model.

What to Do Before Updating Your Galaxy Phone

Major Android updates are generally straightforward, but preparing your phone before installing a substantial software upgrade is still a sensible habit.

Make sure your phone has sufficient battery and storage space, and consider backing up important photos, contacts, documents, and other personal information before beginning the installation.

This becomes even more important if you are planning to switch devices around the same time as the software upgrade. Moving your information first can make the transition much less stressful.

If you need to copy my phone data before moving to another Galaxy device, Smart Transfer can help simplify the process by providing tools for transferring important content between phones. Instead of manually handling photos, contacts, videos, and other files individually, you can use a dedicated transfer workflow to bring essential information across to the new device.

For users preparing to move phone data while upgrading their hardware, this can be particularly useful when the new phone is being set up at the same time. Smart Transfer’s mobile transfer capabilities support wireless data movement, making the transition more straightforward and reducing the need to rely on multiple separate methods for different types of content.

How to Check for Android 17 on Your Galaxy

If you own a Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 FE, or Galaxy S25 Edge, checking for the update takes only a few steps.

Open:

Settings > Software update > Download and install

Your phone will check whether the latest software package is available for your particular model and carrier.

If Android 17 is not listed yet, you may simply need to wait for the rollout to reach your device. Availability can change as Samsung and individual carriers expand distribution.

Samsung's Android 17 Rollout Is Picking Up Speed

Samsung's Android 17 update had a slower beginning than some Galaxy owners may have expected, but the rollout is now moving beyond the company's newest flagship phones.

With the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and multiple Galaxy S25 models beginning to receive One UI 9 in the US, more users should gain access as Samsung continues expanding the release.

The important point is that Android 17 availability remains dependent on the specific device and carrier. If your Galaxy phone is eligible but the update has not appeared yet, there may be nothing you need to do beyond checking again once the rollout reaches your model.

For now, Galaxy owners with supported devices can head into their software update settings and see whether Android 17 has arrived.
